James Durbin Rocks

A couple entries ago, I linked to a video of James Durbin’s American Idol audition that’s had me hooked as a fan since I saw it. On last night’s live show, Durbin did an unbelievable rendition of Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” and is now among the favorites to win the show according to the odds at PinnacleSports.com. This guy is awesome. I like to think even Paul McCartney would be impressed. Durbin gets compared a lot to last year’s runner-up Adam Lambert. I think he’s is a lot more palatable for middle-America than Adam Lambert was so hopefully he can go all the way and make me some dollars. Here is his performance from last night:

My second-favorite performance of last night’s show was Jacob Lusk’s rendition of “I Believe I Can Fly”. He sings with an awesome amount of emotion that’s hard not to like.

Lastly, a bit of music not pertaining to American Idol. In the same entry I first mentioned Durbin, I talked about WMFU, a freeform radio station shaniac introduced me to. The latest show from my favorite DJ, Trent, had an awesome tune by Sharon Jones that I really dig. I think most poker players would find its lyrics easy to relate to. This is why I love WFMU. I probably would never have heard this tune if it weren’t for Trent playing it on his Sound and Safe program. If you’re ever looking to expand your horizons with regards to what music you listen to, check out WFMU. I’m glad I did!
